EatSheet
I built EatSheet so developers can show spreadsheets in the browser for free, and I want to keep improving and maintaining it. Every bug you find helps me do that. So the $10 is my thank-you: one for each confirmed bug, until the $100 is gone.
Example
Formula
EatSheet shows
Excel shows
Sheet1!C14
=SUM(B2:B9)
1,204
1,240
What pays
Counts when
Payout
Security
A file runs script, makes the browser contact another server, or gets past the size limits.
$10
Crash or hang
A file under 25 MB throws an error with no code, freezes the tab, or never finishes within 30 seconds.
$10
Wrong value
In a file saved by Excel, a cell EatSheet calculates or formats differs from what current Excel for Mac shows.
$10
What doesn't pay
Why
Anything under "Not yet" in the docs, such as charts, images or .xls files
Already documented as unsupported
Anything inspect() already warns about
EatSheet has already told you
Formulas where EatSheet shows Excel's saved result
EatSheet isn't calculating these, so the answer is Excel's own
Differences caused by region, such as dates, currency or separators
These change with each machine's settings
Hand-edited saved values
I check every report in Excel
Visual differences
Please still send them. I just can't pay for them
A second file with the same cause
First report wins
How to report
What happens
Step 1
Drop your file in row 3 and see the result.
Step 2
The page writes a report for you. Email it to eatsheet.js@gmail.com with the file and, for a wrong value, a screenshot from Excel. The time your email arrives decides who was first.
Step 3
I check it in Excel and reply. If the bug is confirmed, I pay you $10.
Step 4
With your permission, your file joins the test suite, so the bug can't come back.
Please remove any real company or personal data from your file first. I'll never ask for a password, and I'll only ask how to pay you once a bug is confirmed.
The pool is $100 in total. It ends when it's used up, and later reports aren't paid. I decide what counts and what's a duplicate.
Excel is the reference, even when Excel is strange: =0.1+0.2-0.3 is 0, and =(0.1+0.2-0.3) isn't.
